About us
Kunnskapombarn.no (Knowledge about children) is the website from the four regional knowledge centres (RKBU/RBUP) dedicated to mental health and child welfare of children and young people in Norway. We conduct research, develop the field, and provide education to support services working with children, young people and their families in Norway.
Kunnskapombarn.no was launched October 10, 2022 and is a collaboration between Regional Centre for Child and Youth Mental Health and Child Welfare (RKBU North), The Regional Centre for Child and Youth - Mental Health and Child Welfare (RKBU Central Norway), RKBU West, and Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Eastern and Southern Norway (RBUP). The centres are funded by the Norwegian Directorate of Health (Helsedirektoratet) and the Norwegian Directorate for Children, Youth and Family Affairs (Bufdir).
The role of RKBU/RBUP is to support quality improvement and service development, build expertise an conduct research that promotes service development, and disseminate knowledge in the fields of mental health and child welfare. This applies to both municipal services and specialised services. Our primary goal is to enhance competence and knowledge development in work with children, young people, and their caregivers.
We aim to contribute to effective public health work, evidence-based and user-oriented practices in services, prevention, and to ensure that services achieve better outcomes for their target groups.
The main target group for RKBU/RBUP's work is the public service system, including municipal services and specialist health services; decision-makers, leaders, and service providers in the health and care services, child welfare, family protection, kindergarten, and school. The competence centres ensure that these target groups have fair and equal access to the centres' services.
RBUP and RKBU also collaborate regionally with competence centres in related fields, including:
